On February 6th of 2004 at approximately 10.30pm I pried open a warehouse storage bay door to steal some tools. I was drunk at the time - I realise this doesn’t lessen the offense. I loaded my car with the tools, left and drove at about 7 to 10 mph towards the road that led to the warehouse. While driving I passed three people who were walking towards the road, they were about 15 ft. or more away when I passed them. As soon as I made contact with the adjacent road about four marked Broward sheriff patrol cars surrounded me. I drove about 140 ft or so and pulled off the road into a driveway. I got out and four deputies jumped on me and proceeded to beat the living daylights out of me. I was taken to Broward General Hospital to be checked-out and from there transported to a sub-station off of Sample Road behind a Hess gas station. At that point I was charged with burglary.

One of the detectives said he would buy me some food and then we would talk about other crimes in the area he said I knew about. After I ate he said “so what do you know”. I said I knew nothing. He started yelling at me and said he’d see me in 40 years.  Ten minutes later a deputy walked in the door and the detective asked him “didn’t this suspect try to run you over?”, the deputy said “yes” and another deputy in the back room said “me too” and another said the same; so now three cops signed statements saying that I had tried to run them over and that a high speed chase had taken place. None of the charges are true except the burglary and grand theft. How does one have a high speed fleeing/eluding at 140 ft?

I’m looking for some pro-bono service to help me knock some time off/time served. I have served almost seven years now and know this is enough for a burglary.

I would appreciate any advice or legal assistance to help me solve this matter. I don’t think police or any official should be permitted to lie and get away with it; I’m looking for justice to be served.
