Randy Hilliard
Hello my friends out there in the free world,
My name is Randy and I’m currently serving a 27 year to life sentence. I have been incarcerated for almost 29 years for my role in this crime. Yes! It’s been a long time and I am still not sure when, or if, I will ever be released.
I came to prison at the age of 19 and will be 48 on May 23rd this year - 2010. Yes, I’m growing old in prison and this is why I’m reaching out to those of you in the free world who believes in justice.
In 1981 myself and a few others decided to rob a drug dealer. Unfortunately, without my knowledge, one of my crime partners decided to murder the two victims. I was not present when the murders were committed and court records will back this statement up. I was not aware these murders had occurred until a month later when I was arrested.
In 2002, my crime partner who was convicted of killing the victims, had his conviction overturned and took a deal for two counts of manslaughter; he received a ten year sentence and will be paroling in 2012. It is worth noting that the reason my crime partner had his conviction overturned was due to the prosecutor on our case with-holding key evidence from three witnesses, two of whom testified against me. The witness who testified on behalf of my crime partner, ultimately leading to his conviction being overturned, was a jail house informant who did not testify in-front of a jury; my crime partner and I had separate juries. The information that came to light regarding the other two witnesses was uncovered by my crime partner’s attorney in 2003, unfortunately the courts did not appoint me an attorney to represent my interests and there was, and still is, newly discovered evidence to win me a new and fair trial. Where is the “fairness” in my crime partner, who had been convicted of murdering two victims being appointed an attorney, and me not being assigned one?
I need your help please. If you are an attorney, para-legal or investigator I would appreciate your help in righting this wrong. For those of you who feel my case is a worthy one, I would appreciate your financial assistance, or a donation, no amount is too small. All and any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
Randy
