Five guys wanted to fight my co-defendant for a domestic violence dispute between my co-defendant and the victim's sister. Me and my co-defendant tried to leave the mall but were followed and harassed by the victims and their friends. When my co-defendant agreed to fight the victim two other guys attacked him from the back. One of the victims started towards me, I paniced and started firing to protect myself and co-defendant.

The county over-charged my indictment to get me to plea to a harsher sentence. When I was going to trial in two days my lawyer coerced me to take the deal. The courts sentenced me to two 14 year sentences in Colorado Department of Corrections to be ran consecutively, but under Colorado law if it is one criminal episode the sentences are to run concurrently. The felony I was found guilty of carries a 4 to 12 year sentence but they sentenced me outside the presumptive range (14 years) making my sentence illegal.
